Get the most out of every gallon in your tank with these simple tips:
· Avoid excessive idling - Idling longer than 60 seconds consumes more gas than stopping and restarting. If your stop is going to take more than a minute, turn the engine off.
· Combine trips - Several short trips can use twice as much fuel as one long trip of the same distance.
· Drive sensibly - Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 33% at highway speeds and 5% around town.
· Observe the speed limit - While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed or range, gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. You can assume that for every 5 mph over 60 mph, it is like paying an additional 24 cents per gallon.
