December  21,  2009 - Rally - Pastrana and New Year's Eve

It has been recently announced that Travis Pastrana will be the talent on hand for this year's Red Bull No Limit event that will take place on New Year's eve in Los Angeles, California. Travis will try and break the record for the longest jump in a rally car. The current record is held by Pastrana's rally teammate Ken Block at a huge 171 ft. Not only will Pastrana try and break the record, he will be looking to shatter it and land at least 100 ft. further. This jump is not as easy as take off and landing however. Come by South Coast Subaru by Christmas eve to see our Redbull-Pastrana STI.

The jump will be shown on ESPN on New Year's Eve and will probably be one of the most extreme the No Limit series has seen to date. I for one have no idea how this is going to end well, however I will have my eyes glued to the tube when it happens. Click here for more info.

Special Tax Break Available for New Car Purchases This Year - Offers end Dec 31 2009

The Internal Revenue Service announced that taxpayers who buy a new passenger vehicle this year may be entitled to deduct state and local sales and excise taxes paid on the purchase on their 2009 tax returns next year.

"For those thinking about buying a new car this year, this deduction may give them a little more drive to make their purchase this year," said IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman. Vehicle License Fee Increase

Take advantage of Vehicle Licen Fee (VLF) increase today through May 19, 2009. 

Q: Why is the vehicle license fee (vlf) increasing?
A: The VLF increase is part of the budge plan designed to reduce California's $42 billion deficit.
Q: How much is the VLF increase?
A: The current VLF rate is 0.65 percent and will increase to 1.15 percent for most vehicles, an increase of 0.5 percent.

Care Care Month

South Coast Subaru is participating the Car Care Council's National Car Care Month, a nationwide April program focusing on the importance of regular vehicle maintenance. To celebrate the occasion, participating Subaru dealers are offering free vehicle diagnostic inspections to Subaru owners, emphasizing items that affect fuel economy and offering driving tips for optimizing fuel mileage.

"April is always a good time to assess any needed maintenance or repairs resulting from winter driving, and to make sure your vehicle is ready for summer travel," notes Jim Sinclair, Vice President, Service, Subaru of America, Inc. "And in today's economy, the increased fuel efficiency and lower fuel costs that come with a well-maintained vehicle are more important than ever."

To help owners get the best possible fuel mileage, dealers will be performing the "MPG Inspection." While the vehicles will receive a thorough check-up of all major operating systems, the MPG ("Maintenance Preserves Gas") Inspection puts extra emphasis on the systems that directly impact fuel mileage. Drivers will receive a written report on the vehicle's condition plus helpful driving tips for maximizing fuel efficiency.

Our very own Subaru WRX STI is featuring at the Block of Orange on April 2 - April 3.  As some of you may be aware, the Subaru Impreza WRX STI is taking on the latest installment of the upcoming Fast & Furious film, set to be released nationwide on April 3rd.

The STI will be featured most prominently in the last third of the film, and will act as Paul Walker's "hero" vehicle. Fast & Furious brings back some of the cast members from the film that started it all, and has the same adrenaline-packed excitement and fast-paced action of the first 3 installments.
